Finca Son Bordils was founded by Dn. Joan Bordils i Pont on 18 January 1433 following the acquisition of the Farmhouse dels Febrers and other lands to Dn. Matthew Gallur and grouping them on the land purchased by his father, Dan. Bernat de Bordils, from the 1360s, some of them already occupied by vineyards at the time of purchase. It is known that the mid-fifteenth century the Finca Son Bordils was already dedicated to the production of wine because, during forana revolta (1450-1452), the estate was sacked yielding a bounty of around 50,000 liters.

The family cellar, now in its 4th generation, gives very much importance on acting consciously and consistently with environmental sensitivity. This, of course, affects also the filling process as well as the materials used. The winemaker Andreu Villalonga has succeeded in producing Majorcan wines and do so renouncing of the "DO" rating. His achievement, that also results in exceptional prices, has also been his success. Customers and guests, at home and abroad, as well as his neighbours appreciate this very much.

The cellar is located on a breathtaking part of the Tramuntana mountains. The German pharmaceutical businessman, Prof. Dr. Michael Popp, very soon decided to use the glass cap “Vinolok” as closure for his wine bottles that excludes the use of any “cork”. The insistence on processing the very best natural product based on very high standards is evident by seeing the demand of the product based on a long list of regular customers worldwide. The additional title of the top products “Stairway to Heaven” has surely contributed to its immediate and unmistakable recognition.

The cellar has now been successful managed for over 100 years, with four generations. For the respective family members of each generation, it has always been an absolute basic concern to be innovative in order to produce the best possible wine by using latest technologies. This has been the case till today and will certainly be passed on to further generations. The wine producing process, not only requires enthusiasm and passion, of course, but also the little bit of luck in experimenting. The many awards received confirm their success.

The cellar with its extensive vineyards at the entrance of Puigpunyent is located in a beautiful valley of the Tramuntana Mountains. The privileged site with its strong winds is for the winemaker, Ramon Alabern, a basic requirement to produce these exceptional wines by using the best and most modern technologies. The great circle of customers has stayed faithful for many years also to the successor, his daughter Isabel. In any case, the father keeps a watchful eye to make sure that his legacy continues.

The cellars Tianna Negre and Ses Nines have their origin in the famous village of Binissalem, meanwhile well known amongst wine lovers and experts worldwide. Needless to say that the owners stick to the successful tradition of using almost exclusively domestic grapes that results in the unmistakable Majorcan wine. The company, owned and managed by a sibling couple, has made of innovation, passion and the joy of experimenting the solid components of the responsibility received from their parents.
